Day 7

We were walking up to our house on the top centre  of the photo (brown house). The house has three bedrooms and one bathroom. We normally played cards on the verandah at night but last night we watched a movie!

When we were watching the movie 10 local kids, who we were friends with, came to our house and started climbing trees outside.

Franky and his friends were regulars at the Rec Hall.
The Rec Hall is a hall with a soccer pitch and a basketball court. The little boys were real characters always showing up when we arrived for a game.                                                                            By Tom Post and Lachie Hansen

Day 7

When we were playing basketball a young girl pulled us over to the sidelines to show us her baby joey. She told us the joey's mum was killed when they went hunting. Will really liked it and he asked to take it home with him.

We went up to Pretty Flower to watch the sunset. We were not allowed to go on the beach because there were crocs in the water. The crocodile that lived there was 5.5 metres long but we did not see him.

Day 6

Hi. I'm Shanika and we were paniting at Jilamara
and person who works there showed us some other paniting as well. We did some different kind of aboriginal paniting and that so fun. It was good to be there with the bgs boys.

This is Anthonthy and me (Willow), as we were dancing a Tiwi dance called 'The Boat Dance'. We taught the B.G.S boys to dance as well. They were funny.

Photographed from let to right is Sanika, Willow and Anthony as they wrote this post.

Day 5

Today we went to the Organic Farm. We learnt about the importance of the farm in a place like Milikapiti. We saw many different types of farming facilities. We also saw many different vegetables and fruits and trees. We even saw a snake! Some boys were even silly enough to eat whole chillies. I forgot to mention these chillies were only 4cm long. After that we drove to the basketball court and played basketball with the locals. Some boys instead of playing basketball, cracked coconuts and drank the juice and ate the meat. Some boys believed if you tipped the juice on your hair it will grow faster. Unfortunately due to computer problems we were unable to upload the pictures for this post.

Sam's Say

This is me on Sunday when I caught my first Mud Crab. It was very exciting when Chris, a local, threw the spear into the Mud Crab. We then boiled it and it tasted fantstic. It was so nice.
This is Ben,Will and I watching a local named Clayton trying to look for a crab in one of the holes in the sand. On the end of his stick was a sharp spike but we didn't find any crabs.

Will's Sunday.

This picture is of Willo and me at  Nine Mile Watering Hole. Willo is 12 years old and  he has 2 sisters. He likes to go turtle hunting and fishing with his uncle.

Sunday, Day 4

We saw some Tiwi dancing. The boys showed us the dances while the girls were clapping. After the boys did their dancing the girls followed with their version of the dance. After seeing a few dances. We had a go, my favourite dance was the crocodile dance. Each dance has a different meaning. It was a great experience.

We went fishing at Timrambu. We used handlines. It was a lot of fun although no one caught a fish. We did however catch some crabs. We then got some people to cook them on the fire and can I tell you that it was amazing and you could pay a lot of money for the crabs we caught.

What a Weekend! Days 3 and 4

On Saturday afternoon we travelled on a troop carrier to Nine Mile Creek (water hole). When we arrived we quickly jumped in the freezing water.

We were having fun jumping of rocks and trees. Liam showed us how to make clay!!!!!!

When we left we tried some BBQ wallabie.

On Sunday we went hunting in the mangroves.  Our aim was to find a couple of big mud crabs.

It was really tricky climbing over branches and dodging mud! Luckily a local called Samuel helped us catch two massive crabs!! Their claws were twice as big as our hands.

When we got back in the car we were all muddy and filthy but that didn't stop us because our next stop was fishing!

On Sunday after fishing we went to Nine Mile Creek with Clayton.

It was only a ten minute swim but that didn't stop Clayton from doing a front flip off the bank.

At the open night we felt like celebrities. Everyone was shaking our hands, asking us questions and telling us stories about there awesome life.

We played lots of footy with them. These guys called Steven, Willow and Lenzy were freaks at footy. After footy we had hot dogs for dinner.

Friday June 3

Today we had are first day actually working with the kids and where able to make a parachute with Mr Gibney and play a board game with the lower levels. We had apples and oranges for snack. At snack we also played footy again just like we did on hotdog and coke night. The kids in the lower primary levels are very cool and they always want to have a good and fun time. They really like hugging us and swarming us with saying our names. It's so funny. We really like playing with them.

Thursday Day 1

Here we are about to take off in our small plane from Darwin. We had lots to eat along the way but here our thoughts were with what lay ahead. This is Me, Lachie, Sam and Mr Gibney on the small plane about to take off. It was extremely loud so we had to wear ear-plugs but they ended flying out of our ears to the back of the plane. The ride was amazing because we got to see the entire island from a birds-eye view. We even saw the Milikapiti town. We couldn't wait to see the place-XAVIER
